Today was supposed to be my 2nd running day this week, but I will have to put it off until tomorrow. It seems like my Plantar Fascitis is flaring up on my right foot this morning. It was fine last night before I went to bed last night. I did the morning routine of the ice water bucket and foot roller. Now I am forcing myself to rest so I can allow it to heal. I have a 5K race with Josh on Sunday morning so I want to be race-ready.
On the positive side, I am now only 0.2 lbs away from my goal healthy racing weight of 136.9 lbs. I have found that sleep and eating not too late really does help with controlling the numbers on the scale. Plus I have started loving the fresh grapes and fruit that are on sale and cooking here at home so I can control what goes into my mouth.
I plan to continue looking smoking hot while I burn up the race courses and lakefront this summer. I am at the best shape of my life and love it.

It's a NO GO...
...on Sunday. I am not being allowed to run North Shore..period! I had my visit with podiatrist this afternoon to examine my bad left foot for Plantar Facisitis. When Josh said that we would be running on Sunday. He ended up saying, "one of you will running on Sunday." That's when it hit that I would not be running on Sunday.
I am SO upset about this because I have been working so hard towards this race. This is NOT easy for me to deal with. I hope to work towards accepting this end result. Now I have to work towards being a spectator instead of a runner.
I just need the weather to cooperate so I can ride my bike outside. It's my goal for tommorow.
Please send LOTS of healing hugs and vibes this way. I need them BADLY!!

Taper ENDS here
....because this was my last run until the day before North Shore. My PF got really bad again today that I had to cut my run short by 2 miles due to the pain. I even got my foot checked out in my hospital's ER in fear of a stress fracture, which came out negative THANK GOD! I have given orders to stay off of my foot (with some sexy crutches to boot - NOT!) and not to run in order to rest the tendons since my foot was pretty swollen and painful. I need to see my podiatrist again on Monday or Tuesday to see what he wants to do for it.
I don't want another cortisone shot (mostly because of the shot hurts to get in the DAMN first place!), but it might come down to it. I will have to see what my doctor says. Right now, I am continuing to ice my foot in a bucket of ice water and take Advil like it's a religion. I just want my foot better so I run North Shore next Sunday.
I know that it's a slight setback, but I know that I will bounce back. I plan to focus on maintain my endurance through some serious cross-training.
Tommorow - REST DAY!
Mile 1 - 9:11
Mile 2 - 9:07
Mile 3 - 9:35
Mile 4 - 10:01
Total time - 37:55 Avg Pace - 9:28/mi

Pre-Long Run Rest day
Well, I rested today. I got my foot and everything else in the lower part of my body fixed by my chiropractor. I have my foot taped up with Kinesio tape. I am ready for my run tommorow.
Right now, I am praying that the weather cooperates and allows me to do most or all of my run.
Tommorow - 10 mile run (ending Week #2 of my taper!)

Last run before LONG run - DONE!
You follow desire, and you are not satisfied.
Again you follow desire, and again you are not satisfied.
Again you try, and again you are not satisfied.

What do I desire?
Right now, I desire being able to finish my taper without any more plantar fascitis pain in my LEFT FOOT. I have rolled with my favorite miracle foot ball, but it has been BEGGING and PLEADING for some Advil and Ice. Nothing else. Well, a day's rest from running so I can get my 10 miler done on Sunday morning.
I got through a 40 minute run on the treadmill. I survived. Now I can REST!
Tommmorow - Listen to the FOOT....and REST!

Owwwww!
Had a follow-up appointment with the podiatrist.
Had x-rays taken of my left foot.
No broken bones (Thank GOD!)
But one damn cortisone injection into the heel
for Plantar Fasciitis (ugh..explains the shin pain from Saturday)
Hurt like a BITCH!
Screamed very loudly while the injection took place
so much that the poor people in the waiting room heard me.
No running for the next 3-5 days, but I will be doing a lot of bike riding.
Back to see him in 3 weeks.
Owwww!
