Vikings BLEW them away!

I will admit now that when I walked into the game today that I thought I would be singing a different tune. Our strongest player (who I admit to not being happy with at draft day) is hurt and the rest of the season is a BUST. We were playing a very powerful team and knew that we would get our ASSES handed to them. But no, the Vikings have continuously surprised me this year. Instead of losing, we blew the NY Giants away...totally. I kept on getting updates on my cell phone since I was out and about and had to literately do a double-take. I could not believe it. I just pray and hope that this does continue for the rest of the season.

Next week - DETROIT!

MN Sports Weekend Recap

Well, this weekend has been great....sort of.

First, the Gophers SUCK and lost by ONE DAMN POINT in DOUBLE OT to Northwestern. (How embarrassing!)

Second, the Vikings game was TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME!

Josh and I went to the Map Room to watch the game with our friend, Jay. Jay and I had a wager since the WI Beer Trip in July over today's game. The loser buys the winner a growler filled with the winner's beer of choice. Sweet bet with a sweeter reward. I got into the bar just before kick-off, I put on my lucky Viking jersey. Immediately I got HUGE reactions by the patron and employees in the bar. One guy made a comment to the one of his co-workers by saying "Hey (name), get this girl some toast!" (That comment will haunt that person MUCH LATER!) It felt like being a sheep in the room full of wolves. It was ugly!

It was a very fun game to watch. When the Bears scored, the bar got LOUD (especially when they scored the game tying Touchdown and they pointed at me in the process - that did not last TOO LONG and came back to bite them in the ASS!). When my beloved Vikings scored, the bar got VERY, VERY quiet. The game went down to the last 4 seconds on the clock when our MOST AWESOME kicker Ryan Longwell went to make the GAME WINNING FIELD GOAL (and PRAYING in the process!)

Needless to say, I won my beloved growler. I made our friend drive us down to Rock Bottom Brewery to get my growler filled with Walleye Wheat Heffenweisen. I even ran into a fellow Viking fan while I was there and we celebrate the awesome victory together. It was so sweet to walk back home wearing my Viking jersey in pride.....and for the next two months until the next time we meet.

Right now, I am nursing a semi-bad hangover from too much celebrating at the bar. It is well worth it to see my team win in the city that I currently live. I had another day off tomorrow where I will bask in the victory and hit the gym too.

Thank GOD for 3 day weekends

....and the third one in a row too. I am still counting down the days until I take my LONG and much-earned vacation around my birthday (less than a month away!). I can not wait! I also started my 2nd to the LAST undergrad class on Monday. SO cool!

I went to the gym after a very challenging week (especially the last two days). I ran 4 miles on the treadmill and then headed to do 60 minutes of weight training and core workout. It felt SO good. I also dropped another 1.4 lbs so far this week and very happy about it. I am getting so close to my goal and very happy about the results this time around.

Another thing that I am looking forward to this weekend is that the VIKINGS and BEARS play on SUNDAY. It's the first of two games this year. I am SO PSYCHED! I have not talked about football lately because some of my teams have sucked, but this week is SO GREAT! On top of that, the GOPHERS are in town to play Northwestern during their Homecoming. I wanted to go to the game, but other things got in the way. It's a TOTAL MINNESOTA weekend in CHICAGO weekend. Whooohoo!

Time to work on some homework and then some snuggle time.

Today's workout
4 mile and weight training/core work
45:24
11:20/mile - NICE!

Vikings SUCK on Draft Day!

Yes, they SUCK! (Firefly venting!) I am sitting here watching the 1st round of the NFL draft. The Vikings had the 7th pick in the 1st round. They could have picked Brady Quinn, a QB from Notre Dame, but NO they didn't. They picked Adrian Peterson, a RB, instead. What the HELL were they thinking?! I was sitting in front the TV with Josh waiting and waiting for the Viking's pick announcement screaming, "PICK BRADY! PICK BRADY!" They had a poll with the viewers too, which they picked Brady too, but NO the Vikings are stupid! I hope that he's still available when the Vikings have their 2nd round pick...please!

Damn Bears.....

....and that's all I can say. I am not happy about how my team played. Plus one of the Chicago players injuring the second quartback that they brought out. By the end of the game, we went through all three QB's. Geez! Anyways, besides that, I was able to get my long (sort of) done today. Instead of going outside in the frigid cold, I used to the treadmill for 7 miles. I was able to get through it all. My ankle was a little sore afterwards. But after some ice, it was fine. Tommorow, I will get some cross-training done. Today's Work-out 7 miles - treadmill running 83:44 735 miles 11:57/mile

Vikings WIN.........

.....and next stop: CHICAGO!!!!! (Note to my favorite Chicago bloggers especially Josh: I would like to first apologize for my strong Viking tendencies this coming week. I still care about all of you....but I am a VIKINGS fan...damn it! **grin**) I was NOT happy with the START of the game (LOTS of swearing at the TV) and the last minute of the game (I have no nails on top of my no nails.) On the other hand, I am doing okay today. I had a huge meltdown in the car on the way to bring the kids home to their dad. It all started when the song, "Angel," by Sarah McLachlan on the radio. I was okay for the first 15-30 seconds of the song, but then I started to cry slowly before starting to sob very hard. It was hard to listen to that song because it was the song played during the photo slideshow on the day of my dad's visitation. I have been fine at other times I have heard it until TODAY. Tommorow's another session with the therapist. I will have to see if anything good comes out of it. I also have a visit with the chiropractor and will do some cross-training too.

NOW the Vikings REALLY SUCK!

Now I am very frustrated as a fan with my team. They have lost FOUR in a row and it's getting worse. The beginning of the game was not so bad, but the fourth quarter was going downhill....very fast. I had to turn the game off very quickly....and kringe to see the final score.
On the other side I am VERY happy because my Avs WON again against the Wild 2 - 1. It was a bittersweat victory for me. Two more games before the end of the season......if they do not play each other again in the playoffs. **grin**
Along with that, my friend, Chris's band - Hazen - did VERY well last night. They did so well that reached the semi-final round of the battle of the bands. To reward them for the awesome performance, they get 2 songs listed on the Progression Through Music Compilation CD + 50 CD’s , 5 hours studio time , 1 hour photo shoot + 18x24 Color Glossy Band Photo, Interview & picture gallery on the website.
Since they made it to the Semi-Finals which is scheduled for early-January (hmm....I will have to really think of a trip for that), they also receive Progression Through Music T-Shirts with their name on them. Every band that sells 30 tickets for the Semi Finals gets a 15 ticket bonus ($150), every band that sells 50 tickets gets a 50 ticket bonus ($500). Bands are welcome to sell the tickets for a profit or give the tickets away! I am SO proud of him and his band. They have spent a lot of hours in the studio during the past month, which has made it hard to talk to him before my trip and even during the trip. This is their FIRST big gig. We truly ROCK! Way to go, guys!
Well, I did not get a chance to workout today. I slept in a way too late this morning. I will have to REALLY squeeze it in tommorow definitely.

The Vikings SUCK!!

Yes, I am NOT happy with the result of today's game against those damn Cheeseheads. UGHH! The refs did not help the Vikings out too especially during the start of the 2nd half. UGH! The Vikings SUCK!
Well, my night last night was not that great. I had a very busy event last night and was very tired when I got home. After I took my bedtime meds, I hit the sack and went to sleep. Unfortuately, the sleep was not completely sound....at all. I woke up THREE times with throbbing pain in my ankle and strong sense of thirst. I finally woke up at 6 am, ate a banana, took some Advil, and drank some water before heading back to bed. I did not feel at all rested by the time I woke up at 9 a.m.
I totally cancelled by run this morning with the TNT group. I had some pain in the bad ankle and had a gut feeling to not run today. I decided to listen to the feeling and rest it out today. I called the running coach to let him know that I will not be there. He agreed with my decision and felt it should be looked at again. It does not hurt to walk, but has been bugging for the last day or so sitting my desk. I would rather sit it out again this weekend, continue with the eliptical machine, and see the doctor to have it looked at. I may even finally give in and request a PT referral even though I have received awesome help from fellow RBF members. **sigh**
I feel horrible for not running and it's getting closer and closer to race day. I have stay committed to my training and fundraising. I do not want to let anyone down, especially my dad who's watching over me right now. I have so much personal stress and anxiety going on right now that I need to release it. Running is my personal source of therapy and adreniline release.
Plus I have been eating really badly lately. (Yes, this Firefly is not perfect in the dietary consumption too.) I blame the stress and pressures to increase my emotional eating. Plus the gloomy weather has not helped at all. I went grocery shopping on Friday night after work and bought a lot of healthy stuff to eat. I need to get myself back into the routine again. I need a swift kick in the pants by my friend, Chris too.
I plan to get back on the eliptical machine tommorow morning before or after the chiropractor's visit along with some weight training. I will get back in the saddle. I just need to find a way to do it. Again, I am NOT a quitter.
