Sad Rest Day

Well, after a great run yesterday, I really needed a good rest day. My legs are still getting used to the new shoes. No pain in my feet. Just everything else.

I was going to ride my bike this morning, but there has been a forecast for storm this afternoon (which did not happen until later tonight). It was a very hot and humid when I left work. Now I am glad that I did not ride today.

Well, this weekend will be a busy one for Josh and I. Unfortunately, Josh's grandma passed away this afternoon. It was expected, but still stunning when it actually happens. My main job is comfort him right now. I am more than ready to do that. His grandma was strong and determined woman, who had a lot of spirit. I wish I had more time to get to know her. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this time.

Firefly bummed...

....and it's not about the fact that I am working right now. It's about what HAPPENED at work that I am bummed and a little sadden about. Starting at 7:30 this morning, I watched all of the physicians, residents and nurses work on a patient that coded for almost an hour. Unfortunately, he did not make it. It's just SO sad! I feel for the family who - instead of enjoying this holiday - are now grieving and working out funeral arrangements on a HOLIDAY. That's just not right! I know that's part of the life, but I know for personal experience that deaths on holidays hit HARDER than regular days and weekends. That's why I feel for the family right now because I have been there myself. I said a quick prayer for the patient and his family when I retreated to my office. That's all I can do for now. Happy 4th, everyone! Be safe!
