Officer down

It's a sad day in Chicago right now.

Unfortunately, the Police department lost one of its own this early morning. Personally, it's a sad time whenever an officer dies on the line of duty. It make me thankful that I go home safe each night even working in hospital security with past ambitions of being a police officer turning into law school dreams.

I have been to one police officer funeral procession in my career and just days from my own father's death in June 2005. It was an experience that I will NEVER forget. I spent a 8 hour shift assisting to traffic detail. It was physically and emotionally exhausting at the end of shift from seeing the police vehicle for over 150 different departments driving past you. It's amazing how everyone comes together to support the family of the officer and his police family too.

Rest in Peace, Badge # 5276 . Your watch is over. Heroes are never forgotten.

It's true how they come together. They've truly got each other's backs on the field and off.
