Day 5: Same old story

I woke up again after only 4 1/2 hours of sleep feeling like crap with another fever. I called my doctor and left a message explaining what's going on. Josh and I are taking turns sleeping in shifts. I will be awake when he's asleep. He'll be awake when I am asleep. I did manage to get into my doctor again today. The good news is that my pulse when down from 111 on Thursday to 106 today (well sort of!) The doctor gave me antibiotics for possible walking-pneumonia. I am hacking up a lung for the last 5 days and can not seem to sleep without waking up coughing.

Well, with that said, both Josh and I will be DNS for tommorow's 5K. We do plan to pick up our packets tonight so we can have our t-shirts at least. I feel horrible because I really, really wanted to do this race. But we are NO condition to this race at all.

29 days until the Shamrock Shuffle!

Oh, hun. All you need to worry about is getting yourself healthy. Then, start thinking about running/racing again!

Well, if you really want to race I could just strap your skinny arse to my back and see what kind of time we could collectively get. I think it's a brilliant excuse to take pride in a 55 minute 5K.

For some reason I think USATF might have a few liability issues with that. But, it's the thought that counts :-).

Hope those anti-biotics kick in swift. Many hopes for quick healing!

BOO! The flu can last a LONG time, but if pneumonia is in fact what you have, antibiotics should clear it right up. I had pneumonia in 2001 (not the walking kind...I was in the hospital) and as soon as I got diagnosed and started on Z-Pak, my fever broke and I started to recover.

Walking pneumonia? You'd best take it easy for awhile. And stay away from the green beer next month (although St. Paddy's Day in Chicago is really cool....)
