Race Report....FINALLY!

Yes, this Firefly can post a race report. It has taken a while because of a few factors playing with the post written, but now it's all done.

The Bucktown 5K was a very fun race. I do have to agree with Mike's previous comment about the potholes, which I saw a lot of them in the beginning of the race. In all, Josh and I were able to pace each other and finish with the same time - 30:35. It's not a PR, but very impressed with the time. It was a great to see Lora (who was spectating) and Haight (who was running this race) before the race. We talked about the upcoming Chicago Marathon.

I even took some time to stretch Josh out before the race. (Damn, my legs look really good.)

We had a lot of great comments about our race shirts provided by our sponsor, Josh's mom.

After the race, we stopped to have grab something from a raw food gourmet deli for lunch before heading home. Unfortunately this lunch would bite me in the ass later that night as I developed a very bad reaction to the lunch when it hit my GI tract. While lying in the fetal position, sweating, and crying, I ended up calling in sick on Monday because I could not sleep worth SHIT! But after sleeping in a little bit while Josh went to work, I started feeling normal again.

Well, the rest of the week will be dedicated to getting Josh ready for the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. If you want to keep pace with him, his race number is 28786. Good luck to all of the other racers. I hope to see you on the course and see you at the post-race party Sunday night.

Good job on the race...and hey, I can so relate to the bad situation after eating. I have found THE place for onion rings in the metro. The BEST I have ever had in my life even, so yummy...but I have issues with eating them, and I had a 2nd one knowing that that (and the peppered bacon which I couldn't taste the pepper so thought I was fine) on a sandwich I was eating...not a good night after.

I'm probably going to be watching the TCM on Sunday, but I'll have my phone so I expect txt updates of how Josh is doing!

Interesting race shirts you've got there. I didn't realize you were a big MF fan!

Do let us know if Josh made it yesterday. Everyone's heard that the race was halted, but it still looks like the majority finished before they called it.

And nice job to you on the race, especially given your injuries of late.
