HUGE 5K PR!

Today was a great day for Josh and I to run our 5K - the Frank Lloyd Wright 5K Races - in his hometown in Oak Park. The weather was perfect - a little windy, but I did not mind it at all. After we finished the race, we even ate a pancake breakfast in his former high school cafeteria - first time in 20 years for him (I think I just made him REALLY old...oops!) His mom cheered us on as we hit the home stretch of the race, which really helped.

Well, at the end of the race, the finish time was all that count. We finished BIG and holding hands across the finish line too.

I did not just break sub-30:00. I broke sub-29:00.

OLD PR - 30:27 (Lung Run 5K)
NEW PR - 28:56 TODAY

I thought I was going to throw up or pass out to the finish during the last 0.1 mile as Josh encouraged me to keep my speedy pace.

Mile 1 - 10:10 (VERY comfortable pace!)
Mile 2 - 9:11 (This felt very good!)
Mile 3 - 8:36 - I focused on finishing FAST!
Mile 0.1 - 0:56

I will have a few more pictures from today's race as soon as Josh's mom provides them to us. After the race and breakfast, we headed home to crash and take a short nap in order to regain our energy.

Now I have to focus this week to prep for next Sunday's 10K. I am SO ready!

You all should have seen her go.  Denise dug deep the entire distance: from weaving through crowds at the start to pushing hard that last mile down Chicago Avenue.

It was my pleasure being your rabbit, sweetheart.
