Now that I am going to AZ...

...I need to spill the details of the trip. :D First of all, I staying at a MUCH better hotel, with hopefully MUCH better service than last January. My chapter had us stay at the Hilton Suites Phoenix. The room was nice, but the service SUCKED a**! (I do not know if Barb will agree with me on this one or not - I hope her service was much better than mine.) I attempted to check in during the time that we were told to check in and told by the hotel representative to come back in a hour because the room is not ready. I go have lunch and come back in a hour. The SAME rep tells me that they filled my RESERVED room already. WTF?!! I was already frustrated to have to wait to get settled and certain family members who were making me MAD. I then immediately asked to see a manager NOW (with lots of steam coming out of my ears!) The manager apologized and then got a King Conference Suite instead (much nicer room too!) On top of that, the room service people screwed up my order and also were very RUDE when I asked questions too. Move forward to this week, I fill out the paperwork for TNT to get set up with P.F. Chang's Rock & Roll AZ. The TNT Gods were listening to us when we submitted out feedback questionairre. We are now staying at the Wyndham Phoenix. The rooms look so NICE! I hope to be able to take the city bus over to Grand Canyon University, where I am working on my 4-year degree online and actually SEE the campus. I am hoping to be able to do that on day before the race, if I get the expo on Friday. Well, I am also prepping for my trip today and scheduled to fly tommorow morning at 11:50 a.m. It's only a 2 hour flight so NO FOOD will be provided. Oh pooh! I'd better eat before the flight. I did get a work-out today and it felt good to get out all of pre-recommittment anxiety out of my system. I did extend the cross-training by 5 minutes and did not feel any pain. Yayyy! I am SO itching to get out running by Tuesday when it's forecasted to be in lower-50's. Well, back to work and then head home to finish packing. I will posting pictures from my camera phone during my trip and will try my best to check mail - or I will end up with over 200 e-mails by Sunday night. Today's work-out 40 minutes - Eliptical machine 3.88 miles 473.8 calories burned 10:18/mile

You do not want to eat airplane food anyway - pack something decent for yourself.

Have a great trip!

Have a good trip. Hope it's warmer in Colorado Springs than it is here. Thanks for the shout-out and your good wishes. I'm glad your ankle's healing--looking forward to reading about your return to running.

I do hope that you have a better experience in the new hotel. I hate snotty and rude hotel personnel. Being a person of color, sometimes the evil part of my brain thinks it's discriminatory activity but after reading this...I probably need to ease up. Crap happens to everyone.

I'm lucky my fiance' still lives in Tempe so I don't have to deal with hotel reservations. We oughta meet up at the expo or something. :) My birthday is 3 days before the big marathon.

Glad to hear you're going to be staying in a better place than last year! I can't believe they were so rude!

Congrats on the recommittment front! I guess I was one of the few to not have any issues with the service at the Hilton, but I did hear a few others complaining, too.

I'm going to try to make it to the pancake breakfast, at lesat to donate toward the cause, not a big fan of pancakes, in fact haven't eaten them since I was 17, long story, but I'll try to be there. Congrats on meeting the goal though.
