I saw. I conquered. I ran.

Well, I got my 1st run done in 16 days. I did my best in taking it slow, but I pretty much ran as fast as I was confortable with. The temperatures were very comfortable enough where I ran in just shorts and a long sleeved shirt. How awesome! Well, I decided to run along Lake Harriet for my 1st run, which is 2.79 miles. Not too bad plus the path are very flat and have no holes on it. The run felt very good and comfortable. I focused on running around the lake and returning the pavillion to come the 2.85 miles. I started getting a side stitch with about a mile to go. I just kept on going and did not let it mess with me. When I finished, I walked back and forth to my car before heading to work. My ankle felt really until I received home. I think the extra use with the brake/escalation pedal make it feel overworked. I did put some ice it when I got home and then will put more when I come home tonight. Tommorow I plan to keep it at 2-3 miles again since the weather will be just as warm and taking a break on Thursday. Today's work-out 2.79 mile - run 27:32 9:52/mile - HOLY SHIT! (Yes...I am ready for the lectures from the RBF peanut gallery.) 305 calories burned

Fast pace = side stitches. Just sayin'

Ice is great and ice even if you don't feel any pain. A couple of bags of frozen peas in the evening for 20 minutes and your ankle will love you.

The side stich will go away as you get back into running shape.

Good job getting back into it. It will get easier.

I'm glad you're able to run again. It looks like the rest did you good, Miss 9:52/mile. Good job!

I just did the Marsh Turkey Trot. There are lot's of 5ks coming up. On Thanksgiving morning is the Arena 5k, which starts and finishes at the Target Center. It's very popular. I've run it in the past, but will be out of town that day. I'm planning to run the Reindeer Run on Dec 2. That's another fun one, around Lake Harriet--they extend the course to make it 5K. People dress in costumes--not me, but some do. Let me know if you're going to run that.

You know, I've measured Harriet on my GPS and come up with close to or just at 3 miles...for the Reindeer run they have you run the road so it comes to 5K distance...Isles I've found to be about 2.8 depending on which path you run and Calhoun to be about 3.2...

Good job on your run regardless of the distance. I'm so mad that I miseed mine outside today, last nice day of the year and all most likely...:(
