Report from the Chiropractor

Well, I was able to sleep very well last night. I enjoyed my one morning this week to sleep in. It was wonderful. I actually woke up NOT sore. Amazing, isn't it? Since I declared a day off today, I got up and called my chiropractor to an appointment so I can deal with the pain last night in my left hip (which was slowly screaming). My appointment was at 12:30 p.m., which gave me enough time to get stuff I needed done beforehand. I had an job application for a deputy sheriff position that was due tomorrow and needed to be mailed out. I had a few more bits of information that needed to be added on the application. After that was done, I walked downstairs to the underground garage and headed in my car to the chiropractor's office. I have not been there for almost 3 weeks (BAD girl!) and needed some serious work on my back and left hip. After I filled out my check-in paperwork, my chiropractor walks out and was happy to see me. He asks how I am going. I tell him that I am okay, but dealing with a problem with my left hip. He then asks me to point to the area where it seems to be hurting the most. I point to the hip area. He then pressed down on the muscle area near the hip joint. I let out a loud GROAN! OWWWWWWWW! He then pressed on an area just lower on my left leg to see if it hurts. I let out another loud GROAN! He then tells me that my IT band is acting up again. UGH!! He asks me if I am stretching that area. I tell him..YEAH! He then continues to poke on ALL of the sore pressure point spots. Ohhhhhh...the torture!! (You can add all of the nasty words - I was mentally swearing like a sailor!)

When he's finished, he applies Biofreeze on the left hip and leg before adjusting it. Thank GOD for the biofreeze. It makes it all worth it! I felt a bit better and will try to get in again after my next run so I can prevent the pain this time.

Tommorow's another rest day - no running. I have an appointment in the AM to make myself more beautiful. Details will be coming tommorow. But I get out either doing cross-training or running on Saturday - as long as I get out EARLY since it will be a HOT one.

Later everyone!

Wish I had some IT Band advice, but it is not one of the MANY other problems that plague me...I have found that putting heat on some other hurtful areas prior to a run helps tremendously, but not sure if that will help with IT issues...but anything is worth a try, right??

Have a great weekend and thanks for all the posts to my blog!

I'd like to get an early one in tomorrow myself, but my parents are coming up and staying at my place so most likely will not get up and out as early as I'd like to...hmm...I could maybe get going at 7.

ick, the IT band! As I was reading your post and came across the hip pain part, I immediately thought IT band. It is what plagues me constantly. Stretch, ice, rest when necessary, or it could get worse. And yeah, it's awful when the docs agitate the IT band--it's basically confirming that you do, indeed, have an injury. Best of luck!

Oh gosh, the chiroprator sounds torturous, but I guess whatever helps right? I'll be waking up early on Saturday too, it's going to be wicked hot.

I can relate to chiropractor vistits. But, for me, the adjustments always felt great!

Hope you get to feeling better. Take it easy on yourself.
