Awesome running today

Well, I was able to get out and run today. It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a run. The breeze was blowing off the lake and made it very comfortable to run. I got up at 8:55 a.m. - after hitting the snooze button ONCE. After I ate some breakfast, I gave myself a nebulizer treatment to see if it will help me control my asthma better during the run. I was out the door by 9:55 a.m. Traffic was very nice and was able to get there quickly. I checked my laces and made sure they were tight, then I started off for 5K distance. I felt pretty good considering how busy the walking/run paths were. I was able to pass people very easily, who were going much slower than me. After 0.5 mile, I had to stop and retie my laces. At the halfway point, I had slow down and get something to drink since my right rib was giving me crap again. I looked at my watch and saw that I was at 19:33 by then. I was ecstatic! I kept pressing forth and running. I would slow down for 30 seconds or so to allow my muscles to catch up. But I would go off again and keep running. At the end, I was starting to get tired and having to push myself. My right hip was giving me crap and so on. By the time, I finished - I clicked my stop watch and saw 34:54 - 3 minutes FASTER than last Thursday's run. WOW! I could not believe it. It was hurting a little bit and very tired, but I felt good at my accomplishment. I treated myself at Jamba Juice. Then I headed home to ice my left shin, take a shower, and put Tiger Balm on everything else that was hurting (which I was able to feel it taking effect on all 4 spots at the same time - ugh!) Now I sitting at work on a very quiet day. I hope to feel okay enough to go out again for another round since the weather will be nicer still. Happy 4th, everyone! Today's Workout 5K run 34:54 11:13/mile pace - YES!!!

Congrats on a great run today! Doesn't it always feel so fantastic to finish something faster than the last time that you did it? It's nice to see improvement from day to day.

Good job! I did not run today, but yesterday I did 45 minutes on the treadmill. Without my iPod! That was boring, but I was proud of myself for doing it.

Sorry you had to work today. I see you're hoping to get into the TC 10 mile too. Good luck with the lottery! I'm hoping to get in too. I'm also thinking of running in the Torchlight Parade 5K in July, but haven't decided.

It's nice to have another blogger from the Twin Cities. :-)

I did a speed 5K workout on the 4th too, tempo run during my 6 miler...it felt nice to get out running a bit faster. I need to run a 5K race again one of these days so I can get a real time for one.

Congrats on the faster finish. It was nice running weather yesterday wasn't it? Where do you run?
