Not a mentor this time...

I guess I will have to wait to become a mentor. I still plan to complete in P.F. Chang's in January. My friend, Frank, became a mentor for the Rochester, MN area. Congrads, Frank! Way to go! I will have to start getting letters out in mid-July so I can get a head start on it. Last year was tough due to the hurricane. I know what to do now compared to last year. I hope that it's a little bit easier this year especially because I have already completed one marathon and going on to my 2nd one. Well, today's a cross-training day for me. After hitting the snooze button too many times, I got up and headed to the gym. I headed to the eliptical machine for 45 minutes. It seemed a little more tougher today on the eliptical machine. I don't know why. I was pushing and pushing myself even though I am on the same level that I have been at for over a week. Ugh! Once I was done with my cardio work-out, I headed for a quick weight training work-out - upper body day. After the work-out, on my way to my in-laws for "laundry day", I noticed my left shoulder was giving me crap. Oh no!! For those who may not know, I injured my left shoulder last May during a training for my previous job. I have a not-so-nice bone spur inside of my rotator cuff. You could not see the ball of the shoulder because of the inflammation. It took my doctor four weeks before she could even press down on the HUGE hematoma that developed from the impact. It took a cortisone injection to get the pain and inflammation to go down. I do NOT want another one any time soon...if I can not help it. Well, tonight I finally give in and put in my TENS machine pads on my sore shoulder. I will eventually put some Tiger Balm on it before I go to bed. It's a little stiff right now, but it will get better soon. Tommorow I will prepare some helpful tips that I have used during my marathon training to help keep fueled and lose some weight.

Every time I hit the snooze button makes me less and less likely to get out of bed. In fact, the last couple of days I have put my alarm clock on the other side of the room so I have to get out of bed to turn it off! I think you're awesome for still heading to your workout!

You're way better than me on the non-run days. I just slack off and read blogs.

Way to actually get up and get to it! I've yet to have a successful pre-work workout in the wee hours of the morning. :)

I've had the same experience on the elliptical -- same setting; different exertion levels. I guess that's just how it goes. Welcome to the running blogosphere!

Ouch, that sounds painful and frustrating to go through.
Nice training there.
